I had an idea, and now there is a super exciting journey ahead of me. I'd like to invite you to come with me to this journey, and let's see together where it leads.

Me after finished writing my first blog post at 4 AM

Welcome here! My name is vlxi, and I just had an idea: I will build an (indie) game!

It happened a long time ago that a project made me this excited. I can’t stop thinking and constantly brainstorming about it.

Apologies for the current look of the website. If it somehow reaches you while it has the ‘basic’ look, I’ll work on it during the upcoming days, but I just had the inner drive that I need to start my blog ASAP so I can document my journey and the process. But I have to say, it’s somewhat fun to blog on a site that has a design of the early 2000s.

Let me introduce you to the idea and myself.

The Idea

So basically, I was just scrolling on the internet, and more and more gaming content came across me. I started to think about how much I like gaming and about the good old times when I was actually playing games. After my Instagram feed had only gaming content, and I got to know everything about the current gaming industry, I just realized: for now, there is no game out there that I’d like to play. Or at least, from what I know, as far as my knowledge goes, there is nothing like that. And it really made me think…

Maybe I have a strange taste. :-D I really like crafting, building things, engineering, open worlds, survival, building colonies, cities, but actually having a main hero and controlling its life and freely making its journey. I’m not gonna lie, I like to create my own stuff, and I want to create my own game, a game that I’d actually like to play. A game that would make me excited. I’d like to tell you more, but for now, that’s what I have. I’m in the discovery phase, basically all the time either researching or brainstorming, my mind wrapped around the game 24/7.

About Me

I’m 25, and as a day job, I work at an international organisation as an IT Lead in Hungary. But when the Sun goes down, I’m Batman…! Ok, I’m joking, I just like to work on my hobby projects at night.

I always loved programming and software engineering. I made my first programs and websites at the age of 13. Unfortunately, during the years after I got my full-time job, I got out of programming. Many new tools came, but the basics stayed, so I just have to refresh a few things and read a couple of docs. So right now, I’m also on the journey to get back to my beloved hobby, catching up with new technologies (for example, Astro - this framework is amazing), so it’s a perfect time to start building my own game, basically learning as I go and documenting the whole project with these posts. So basically, we can say I’m starting from ground 0?!

I really like to read devblogs (like https://factorio.com/blog/). They really inspire me. I love them, love when they are super detailed and transparent. This is what I want to do here, for my project, for the future community, for my fellow programmers, and also for myself. I also just like to write a lot of stuff in my Notes app, so I suppose this blogging can fit me. However, this is the first time I’m doing this, and I feel a bit strange. I definitely feel I need to get better at writing, but hey, everything will improve over time. I’m working on it!

I really hope this project will gather some people around it, and we can make a great community actually enjoying what I’m about to build here.

My plan - or rather some of my plan

  1. Polish and finalize the game idea
  2. Decide the tech stack for developing the game
  3. Constantly blogging about my journey
  4. Get better at blogging
  5. Improve the website
  6. Build an amazing game with an amazing community that actually enjoys playing it <3

Just for the sake of note: Today is 2026.09.18, Friday. I started even thinking about game development like 2-3 days ago, so you are super early in the process. I’ve already done a couple of research tasks and made some decisions. I will share them with you soon. Just now, it’s almost 4 AM in the morning, and I have to work tomorrow :D

note for myself: I should come up with a nice name for this blog series + make a proper roadmap
